Schedule

The following activities are designed for a broad range of ability levels. We have tried to provide something for everyone. There is no cost to the activities.

All Day Events

White Cane Activity

Try your hand at using a white cane and navigating your way through a brief obstacle course.

“Chair” Wash

Come and get a quick wipe down of your personal mobility device, whether it be a wheelchair, scooter or walker. No transfers.

HSR / DARTS Mobility Device Activity

Do you have a mobility device and want to experiment with boarding an HSR bus or a DARTS vehicle in a safe environment? Perhaps you want to try boarding a bus with an available mobility device to get a better understanding of the difficulties involved. In either case, this is the event for you. *Due to availability issues, the DARTS vehicle will only be available from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM

Motion has generously provided a variety of Personal Mobility Devices for this activity.

Personal Mobility Device Tune Up/Repair Station

Hausers Pharmacy and Home Healthcare have generously provided a service technician at their booth to perform small repairs or tune ups of personal mobility devices. Come and visit them to learn about the services they offer and while you are there, have them look at your walker, wheelchair, scooter or powerchair and see if they can’t tighten that loose bolt or fix that annoying squeak at no charge. There will be no chair transfers.

Yarn Bombing” Maple Leaf Art Display

Come and experience a Yarn Bombing display. DeafBlind Ontario is presenting a 4′ by 4′ maple leaf that has been covered in connected yarn squares. This is what is known as “Yarn Bombing”. Come on down, close your eyes, touch the yarn and lose yourself in the tactile experience of different textures and patterns. Community members, individuals who are deafblind, employees and volunteers donated yarn squares to contribute to this “tactile art” display.
